Before letting yourself get
carried away of the travel excitement, ensure to create a checklist.
Travelling offshore is a lot different from travelling to another city.
You must ensure your safety when you have reached your travel
destination.
First, if you are travelling to another country which
is very new to you, a short research about your travel destination is a
must. You should at least familiarize the place nearest to the airport
as well as in the place where you have planned to stay.
Second,
learn some natives language if it differs from your mother tongue. In
this way you will not be an easy target for thugs or mobsters.
Third,
bring a map of your travel destination. This will avoid you from
getting lost in the middle of your tour. You can also save from
transport fees when you have a map of your own. Your next destination
might be a few blocks from where you are.
Fourth, ensure to research about the location and phone number of your country’s embassy before you go to any country. Things happen in an instant, being prepared and knowing where to seek help is best for anyone.
Fifth,
dress like the natives. Do go over dressed when visiting another
country. Mobsters are all over the place. Don’t give them any signal
that you are a tourist. Also, it will help you get cheaper price on
anything because most countries took advantage of the tourists by
setting higher prices than it’s normal.
Sixth, ensure that you have a contact number of your parents or anyone you could trust in case of emergency in your purse.
Seventh,
before anything else, be sure that you have all the necessary travel
documents in place. You do not want to be hold at the immigration,
right?
Eight, have your passport and other travel documents
photocopied, so if ever you had lost your passport and travel documents,
you still have something to show to the embassy. Make sure that you put
the copies in a different bag. Documents that need copies includes your
passport ID page, visa, itineraries, airline ticket, hotel booking,
driver’s license (if applicable), credits cards you have, as well as
your check numbers.
Ninth, make a habit of updating your
parents where you are and your companies are. In this regards, if
anything happens to you, they will know where to start looking and who
to contact.
Tenth, never bring large amount of money with you. You
may consider using debit cards or major credit cards if you don’t have
checks.
Eleventh, never flash big amount of money when paring your bills at the café or restaurant.
Twelfth,
ensure to notify your banks and credit cards companies as well as your
other financial institution that you are going out of the country. This
will prevent you from losing your money and being a victim of frauds.
When you have prepared and done everything on this list, you are now ready for a safe and enjoyable travel!
